Hybrid inverters (F-series fault codes)

Deye F56 error code

DC bus voltage too low / battery communication or battery voltage fault.

Likely causes

  • Battery not communicating over CAN/RS485
  • Battery voltage below shutdown threshold
  • Loose battery breaker or DC cable
  • BMS in protection mode

Checks to run, in order

  1. 1Confirm battery breaker is closed
  2. 2Check BMS comms cable and protocol setting
  3. 3Measure battery terminal voltage
  4. 4Review battery BMS status

Fixes

  • Set the correct lithium protocol in the inverter menu
  • Recharge or replace the battery bank
  • Reseat DC cables and torque terminals

When to escalate

If the fault returns with a healthy battery and correct protocol, involve the battery manufacturer.

Before you open the inverter

  • Isolate both the AC and DC sides, then confirm the display is dead before touching terminals.
  • Use insulated tools and one hand where possible. DC arcs do not self-extinguish like AC.
  • If you see burnt terminals, swollen cells, leaking electrolyte or a burning smell, stop and escalate instead of resetting the fault.
