Off-grid / hybrid inverters

Growatt 04 error code

Battery voltage low.

Likely causes

  • Deep discharge
  • Undersized battery bank
  • High overnight load

Checks to run, in order

  1. 1Measure battery voltage at the terminals
  2. 2Compare load to bank capacity
  3. 3Check charging from PV and grid

Fixes

  • Recharge the bank
  • Add capacity or shift loads
  • Adjust low-voltage parameters

When to escalate

If the bank cannot hold charge after a full cycle, test it under load.

Before you open the inverter

  • Isolate both the AC and DC sides, then confirm the display is dead before touching terminals.
  • Use insulated tools and one hand where possible. DC arcs do not self-extinguish like AC.
  • If you see burnt terminals, swollen cells, leaking electrolyte or a burning smell, stop and escalate instead of resetting the fault.
